A 400m stretch of a Dorset beach was cordoned off by police, after reports of a potential unexploded bomb. A potential unexploded bomb which resulted in a 400m stretch of a beach being cordoned off by police later turned out to be an item of "rubbish".

Photographs of the object have been sent to bomb disposal experts for guidance. Officers later said it was not ordnance but "appeared to to be rubbish".
Police say there is no risk to the public and are awaiting further information about the object. The object was taken to Christchurch police station, where it was due to be collected by the local authority.
