'New high' for dissident activity
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/northern_ireland/7473356.stm Version 0 of 1. Dissident republican activity is at its highest level for five years, the secretary of state has said. However, Shaun Woodward, speaking in the Commons, said that he was confident that dissidents were "not building support in the community". "And we are confident they are not recruiting in the community," he added. Mr Woodward said this was because they found "no support in the community, but it does not mean that they are not dangerous". Mr Woodward added: "And as they feel time running out, with the parties reaching agreement on the issues which once divided them, they unfortunately may carry out more and more desperate acts." |
