Police in the US state of Kentucky say a member of staff at a plant shot four people dead and injured two others before killing himself. A worker at a factory in the US state of Kentucky shot five colleagues dead and injured another before turning the gun on himself, police said.
The shooting in Henderson city happened after the Atlantis Plastics employee argued with a supervisor, police said. He opened fire at the Atlantis Plastics factory in Henderson city after arguing with a male supervisor, said police.
The two other people shot were flown to hospitals in Evansville, Indiana, where one of the survivors was in a critical condition, police told the BBC. Using a handgun he fetched from home on his break, the employee killed the supervisor, two other male workers and two females, police told the BBC.
The employee used a handgun he got from home during his break, police said. A sixth victim, a woman, was in a stable condition in hospital.
A police spokeswoman told the BBC News website the shooting happened at just after midnight on Wednesday at 1218 (0418GMT). She was being treated at St Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, Henderson police detective Preston Herndon told BBC News.
It is not known if the supervisor with whom the employee had argued was among the victims. Atlantis Plastics chief executive officer Bud Philbrook told AP news agency the killings were a "total shock".
The rampage happened at just after midnight on Wednesday at 1218 (0418GMT).
Staff at the plant, which employs about 150 people and makes refrigerators parts, have been sent home for the day.
