A 97-year-old man confronted up to four burglars at his west Belfast home at the weekend. A 97-year-old west Belfast man is being treated in hospital for a suspected heart attack after his house was burgled by a four-man gang.
He was taken to hospital for a check-up following the burglary. The four men got into his home at Andersonstown Park at about 1330 BST on Saturday. The burglars forced their way into his Andersonstown Park home at 1330 BST on Saturday and ransacked the top floor.
They ransacked the upstairs part of the house, but made their escape after the man confronted them. He was cut on the arm as he struggled with them and was taken to hospital for a check-up following the burglary.
Before driving off, the gang threatened to kill the man's son who had called to take his father to church.
"They ran over to the car and one of them said, give it me, give it me. I'll kill him," he said.
"I thought to myself, I am on the way out here."
However, the men then got into the car and drove off.
"My father was badly shook up and his arm was cut," the man added.
