Man faces court over Exeter blast

A man charged in connection with an explosion at a restaurant in Exeter has appeared at a court in London.

Nicky Reilly appeared at the Old Bailey via video link from Belmarsh Prison under the name Mohamed Saeed-Alim.

The 22-year-old from Plymouth has been charged with three offences in connection with the incident in the Giraffe restaurant.

The case against Mr Reilly, of King Street, Plymouth, was adjourned to 15 October for a plea to be heard.

The judge, Mr Justice Calvert-Smith, said any trial may be held in the West Country.

Mr Reilly spoke only to confirm he understood and could hear proceedings during the 20-minute hearing.

The charges cover conduct in preparation for committing acts of terrorism, possession of an explosive substance with intent and possession of explosives.
