The funeral of the Londonderry mother and daughter killed in a road accident in County Donegal earlier this week has taken place.
Kerry-Ann Meehan, 16, and her three-month-old daughter Niesha, died after the crash on Monday night.
The collision, between a car and a 4x4 vehicle, happened outside Letterkenny.
Fr Stephen McLaughlin, who celebrated requiem mass at St Mary's Church in Creggan, described the deaths as "an unspeakable sadness".
"The high walls of this church cover a vast space yet they cannot capture the sense of sorrow that is felt this morning as we lay to rest young Kerry-Ann and her baby Niesha," he said.
"These same walls have down through the years have witnessed many a tragic funeral but nothing prepares you for the sight of a coffin that contains both a mother and her child."
Niesha's 18-year-old father was seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital. | Niesha's 18-year-old father was seriously injured in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to hospital. |
