The funeral took place at St Mary's Church, Creggan, in Londonderry. Fr Stephen McLaughlin, who celebrated requiem mass at St Mary's Church in Creggan, described the deaths as "an unspeakable sadness".
"The high walls of this church cover a vast space yet they cannot capture the sense of sorrow that is felt this morning as we lay to rest young Kerry-Ann and her baby Niesha," he said.
"These same walls have down through the years have witnessed many a tragic funeral but nothing prepares you for the sight of a coffin that contains both a mother and her child."
