The hunt is on for a Superlambanana sculpture that has gone missing from Liverpool city centre. The hunt is on for a mini Superlambanana sculpture which was taken from Liverpool city centre.
A baby Superlambanana in a hard hat, which had been screwed down next to its mother outside Maghull Developments on Hope Street, has vanished. The Superlambanana was one of several decorated as a workman in a hard hat and fluorescent jacket as part of the Capital of Culture celebrations.
It was one of more than 100 of a specially decorated flock placed around the city as part of the Capital of Culture celebrations. It had been screwed down next to its mother outside Maghull Developments on Hope Street, but vanished on Sunday.
Jonathan Sealey, a surveyor at Maghull Developments, said they want it back. More than 100 specially-decorated replicas of the iconic sculpture are currently on show.
'Just brackets' The missing sculpture is one of a group called A Herd Day's Night.
"We left work Friday afternoon and there were two Superlambananas which had been screwed down outside our office so they couldn't be taken - or so we thought," he said. Jonathan Sealey, a surveyor at Maghull Developments, said they wanted it back.
"When we came back Monday morning and there were just the four brackets left with no little Superlambanana attached." 'Screwed down'
About 125 two-metre tall replicas of the sculpture made by Japanese artist Taro Cheizo have been placed around the city centre and suburbs. They have been decorated by artists, schools and community groups and will be on display over the next 10 weeks. "When we came back on Monday morning, there were just the four brackets left with no little Superlambanana attached."
