Police investigating a double shooting in East Dunbartonshire, which left two men seriously injured, have renewed their appeal for information.

The victims, aged 25 and 26, were shot in Clelland Avenue, Bishopbriggs, at about 2155 GMT on Thursday.

The 25-year-old man is described as making a good recovery and the 26-year-old remains serious but stable.

The officer leading the investigation said he was anxious to speak to people who were in the area at the time.

Det Insp Jim Henderson said a number of people had come forward.

Sole occupant

"I am, however, still anxious to trace anyone who may have seen something vital to this investigation and has not yet spoken to the police," he said.

Det Insp Henderson said that the victims had driven to Clelland Avenue in a BMW X5 and met a couple who drove a black Mercedes ML350.

The driver of the Mercedes got out of his car to talk to the victims when two vehicles drove into the street.

These cars may have been a dark family saloon and silver car.

The first car may have had a sole occupant and the second vehicle had a number of men on board, police said.

Det Insp Henderson said he was keen to speak to anyone who saw two cars travelling together in the Bishopbriggs and Auchinairn areas after 2100 GMT on Thursday.

The officer also said he would like to speak to the driver of a family saloon car that went from Springfield Road and turned left into Crowhill Road.

The car was driving with its hazard warning lights on.
