JJB workers' pay dispute settled
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/england/manchester/6166448.stm Version 0 of 1. Staff at sports retailer JJB have accepted a new pay offer, calling off further strike action. The GMB said its members at the firm's warehouse in Wigan, Greater Manchester, backed the deal to raise hourly rates to £6 from the current £5.20 or £5.50. Staff have walked out several times in the past few months in a dispute over pay and conditions. Strikes planned for Wednesday and Thursday, an overtime ban and work to rule, have now been called off. GMB official Graham Coxon said: "This has been a great victory for the will and fortitude of GMB members at JJB Sports, who have been on the minimum wage for far too long." |
