The 1200 block of West Broadway was closed after authorities discovered the item. Sgt. Brian Montague said the item appeared to be a pressure cooker but was not deemed dangerous by the Vancouver Police Department Explosives Disposal Unit after an examination and x-ray of the item, local news outlet CKNW reported.
The entire block has been evacuated, CBC reporter Tanya Fletcher tweeted. The cooker was determined to be empty and posed no risk to the public. Police are currently working to determine who left the pressure cooker on the street, and why.
