West Yorkshire Police said the boy was arrested on Friday in connection with the murder of Amar, who was found dead in Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury, on 25 May. A 20-year-old man and three boys, all aged 15, were remanded in custody earlier in the week after appearing in court charged with Amar's murder. They are also accused of robbing him of £10, a silver chain and a mobile phone. All four were remanded to appear before Leeds Crown Court on 5 June. Prayer vigil Three other youths were released on police bail pending further inquiries. Religious leaders and an MP held a prayer vigil and a minute's silence for the teenager on Friday. The Bishop of Wakefield, Stephen Platten, joined Imam Moulanah Ilyas Patel and the Rev Kevin Partington for the service. MP Shahid Malik said the community and police had to fight crime together. Mr Malik told BBC News that the level of violence between youths in Britain had become "completely unacceptable" and the police could not tackle it on their own. 'Parental responsibility' "It requires a concerted effort by everybody in the community," he said. "Parents and parental responsibility is a big factor, schools have got a big role to play, churches, mosques, synagogues have got a big role to play. "Only by coming together are we going to reduce the levels of youth-on-youth violence, which at the moment are just completely unacceptable." During the short service prayers from each denomination were said and a minute's silence was observed in honour of the dead teenager. The group then travelled to Mr Aslam's home to speak with family members. |
