The officer in charge of the investigation, Det Ch Insp Derek Robertson, said: "The woman's body was removed from the park in the early hours of this morning and a post-mortem examination will take place this afternoon.
So far, public response has been good but I am sure that there will be people who were in the area and have not contacted us as they think they didn't see or hear anything Det Ch Insp Derek Robertson, Strathclyde Police "At this time, we are continuing enquiries to establish her identity, and all avenues of investigation are being explored in this regard.
"The park will remain closed while forensic officers continue with a structured, detailed and painstaking examination of the scene to ensure all forensic opportunities are maximised.
"This is to ensure that no potential evidence is overlooked. Naturally this is time consuming, however, it is vital that meticulous detail is given to the area."
Det Ch Insp Robertson said the death was still being treated as suspicious and repeated earlier appeals for anyone with information to get in touch.
He added: "So far, public response has been good but I am sure that there will be people who were in the area and have not contacted us as they think they didn't see or hear anything.
"Let us be the judge of that as all information may prove valuable."
