A mother and child have been shot in Indianapolis, Indiana, with police confirming the shooter is another young child. A 4-year-old child accidentally shot herself and her mother in Indianapolis, Indiana. The 25 year-old mother was shot in the back of the head and is being treated in hospital.

According to Fox 59, the adult was a mother in her 20s, and the child is understood to be 5-years-old. Both are said to be in a serious condition and have been taken to hospital for treatment. It was initially reported that there was a third child involved in the shooting but it's now understood one child took the gun from a nightstand and accidentally shot herself and her mother in the process.
The age of the child who fired the gun is not known at this stage. It’s also reported the weapon was fired accidentally. Both were taken to hospital for treatment following the incident.
