Residents in north Belfast are to be offered advice from international experts on how best to regenerate their area.

More than £230m has been earmarked for a 27-acre site around Girdwood Army Barracks and Crumlin Road Jail.

The Participation and Practice of Rights Project said it was important that the local community was given a say in how the area was regenerated.

Chairperson Inez McCormack said people must make the most of the opportunity.

"This is their opportunity to say we want to be heard, but secondly to say we want to hear about the best practice, we want to hear about the best standards and we want to cautiously and constructively move forward with the government and their departments," she said.
