A three-year-old girl was killed when a mini-motorcycle she was a passenger on collided with a pick-up truck.

The crash happened on a footpath in Louth, Lincolnshire, on Monday afternoon as the Ford Ranger truck left a garage access road.

Lincolnshire police said it was believed the mini-motorcycle was being driven on the footpath of Monks Dyke Road at the time of the collision.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A police spokesman said: "It would appear that the mini-motorcycle has been travelling along the footpath and has collided with the vehicle, which at the time was emerging from a garage access road between two houses.

"The three-year-old girl was a passenger on the mini-motorcycle.

"Investigations at the minute are proceeding but are very much in their infancy."
