Life claimed in M8 barrier crash Appeal for fatal accident witness

One person has died after a car collided with a crash barrier on the M8 near Edinburgh. Police investigating a crash in which one person died and four others were injured said they were keen to trace a driver who stopped at the scene.
The accident happened on the eastbound carriageway, between junctions 3 and 2, at about 1100 BST on Sunday. The accident happened on the M8 eastbound, about half a mile west of junction two at 1100 BST on Sunday.
Four other occupants of the car were injured and taken to hospital for treatment. A maroon-coloured Honda Civic went out of control and hit a crash barrier.
The road was closed for a number of hours, causing lengthy tailbacks. Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to come forward. Lothian and Borders officers were keen to speak to the driver of a dark coloured Audi estate car who spoke with people at the scene.
The injured people were taken to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and released after treatment.
