A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of another man was found in the street.

James Graham, 29, was discovered lying in Cool Oak Lane, Hendon, north-west London, on Friday evening and pronounced dead at hospital later.

The 29-year-old, from Cricklewood, died as a result of a sustained attack, according to a post-mortem examination.

The Metropolitan Police said a 20-year-old man was being questioned on suspicion of murder.

Mr Graham's family have been informed and a murder investigation has been launched, police said.

'Much loved'

Det Ch Insp Andrew Mortimer said: "We are particularly keen to speak to a woman who stopped at the scene and attempted first aid.

"We are also keen to speak to the occupants of a white van that may have driven past James and not realised the significance of his injuries.

"James was much loved by his friends and family. I would urge anyone with information that could help bring his family and friends justice to please call police."

Officers said they were keeping an open mind about the motive for the attack.
