One person has died and four others have been injured in a crash just outside Edinburgh. One person has died after a car collided with a crash barrier on the M8 near Edinburgh.
The accident happened on the eastbound carriageway of the M8 between junctions 3 and 2 just before midday. The accident happened on the eastbound carriageway, between junctions 3 and 2, at about 1100 BST on Sunday.
Diversions are in place from Junction 3a with tailbacks stretching back to junction 4. Four other occupants of the car were injured and taken to hospital for treatment.
Lothian and Borders Police are advising drivers to avoid the area if possible as the road is expected to be closed for some time. The road was closed for a number of hours, causing lengthy tailbacks. Police have appealed for witnesses to the accident to come forward.
