A service to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Bradford policewoman Pc Sharon Beshenivsky is due to take place in the city. A service to commemorate the first anniversary of the death of Bradford policewoman Pc Sharon Beshenivsky has taken place in the city.

Four men are currently on trial for her murder. A fifth man has admitted murder and will be sentenced at a later date. Her colleague, Pc Teresa Milburn, who survived the shooting, was comforted by fellow officers during the short service in Centenary Square.
A short service will be held and a memorial stone unveiled at the memorial garden in Centenary Square at 1515 GMT. Pc Beshenivsky's husband Paul laid a wreath at a dedicated memorial stone.
West Yorkshire Police's divisional commander for Bradford South, Ch Supt Sarah Brown, said: "Although it is a year since the incident in which Sharon was killed, she is still very much in all of our thoughts. Throughout the 15-minute service Pc Milburn held Mr Beshenivsky's hand.
Dozens of officers and members of the public attended the service, which was led by the Dean of Bradford, the Very Rev David Ison.

The dean said: "We meet today to honour her memory and the way that in death as in life she has inspired us."
The service also remembered Sgt Michael Hawcroft, who was killed while on duty in Bradford in 1981.

Pc Beshenivsky was killed and Pc Milburn seriously injured when they were called to the Universal Express travel agency in Bradford.
