A man charged with the murders of his two children, his ex-partner and her brother at a house in Newcastle has been remanded in custody.

The bodies of Olufunke Sobo, 36, her brother Yemi, and children, Abigail, 12, and Steven Crampton, five, were found in Hawthorn Gardens on Tuesday.

Neil Crampton, 34, from Huntley Crescent, Gateshead, was arrested following the deaths.

Magistrates in Newcastle remanded him in custody until 28 November.

Police in Newcastle said post-mortem examinations revealed the four had suffered multiple stab wounds.
