A man has died after a shooting in County Cavan in the Republic of Ireland. Gardaí have launched a murder inquiry after a man was shot dead in County Cavan in the Republic of Ireland.
The dead man, who was in his 30s, was shot at about 0500 BST in the Kilconny estate, Belturbet, a short distance from the border with County Fermanagh. The victim, who was in his early 30s, was shot dead in his house in the Kilconny estate, Belturbet, close to the border with County Fermanagh.
The Garda are describing the death as suspicious, but so far it is not clear if the man shot himself or whether someone else was involved. It is believed one gunman carried out the attack at about 0500 BST on Tuesday.
A house in the estate has been cordoned off and the body is still at the scene. The dead man's partner and 13-month-old baby, who were in the house at the time, were not injured.
The name of the man who was killed has not yet been released. The name of the victim has not yet been released.
