Many papers focus on the purchase of an 18% stake in ITV by its rival, BSkyB.

The Sun, which like BSkyB is owned by News International, says the move was designed to block the cable company NTL from merging with ITV.

In the Independent, the former director-general of the BBC, Greg Dyke, describes the development as "ITV's worst nightmare".

The Daily Telegraph calls it an "audacious move" which is likely to be contested by NTL.

Tony Blair has been speaking to the Independent about his aspirations for tackling climate change.

It came just days after the paper castigated him for not including firm targets on greenhouse emissions in the Queens Speech.

The paper says the prime minister has implicitly ruled out a tax on aviation.

It also claims that he believes opposition to nuclear power is a knee-jerk reaction by those who know very little about how it works.

Cardigans

Celebrities have continued to gather at Odescalchi Castle outside Rome for the expected wedding of Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes.

Many papers comment on guest David Beckham's cardigan which is reminiscent of one worn by Michael Glaser in the 1970s TV show Starsky And Hutch.

The Daily Mail says it looks like it was knitted by his wife Victoria.

Beckham doesn't often make a fashion blunder, says the Daily Mirror, but it describes his latest look as "laughable".

Pictures from inside the giant warehouse of the online retailer Amazon also feature heavily.

As the retailer prepares to send out millions of gifts in time for Christmas, the Daily Mail appears mournful that online shopping is replacing the high street.

Meanwhile, the Daily Express describes the scene as "ordered chaos".

It claims around three million orders will be processed at the facility in Milton Keynes each week in the run-up to Christmas.
