Royal editor facing hacking trial

The News of the World's royal editor will stand trial at the Old Bailey next year on mobile phone hacking charges.

Clive Goodman, 48, from Putney, south-west London, will appear for a hearing on 29 November, and a trial date has been set for 23 July.

He was arrested after claims by the Prince of Wales's household of security breaches in its telephone network.

Glenn Mulcaire, 35, from Sutton, south-west London, will stand trial on the same date over the same charges.

They are accused of conspiring to intercept voicemail messages and of intercepting voicemail messages.

Mr Goodman did not appear for the brief hearing at the Old Bailey to set the dates, the earlier of which will be a for a plea and case management hearing.
