Metropolitan Police arrested a man at 22.39 after he was subdued by Taser. "Early indications suggest that mental health was a factor in this horrific attack. However we are keeping an open mind regarding the motive and terrorism remains one line of inquiry being explored."
According to eyewitnesses, a forensics team has erected a tent along Southampton Row, and police are maintaining a heavy presence in the area. The suspect is being held in police custody at a London hospital.

Fears of terrorist connections come in the wake of high profile attacks by lone men in Nice, France, and Orlando, Florida, where seemingly mentally disturbed attackers also claim allegiance to Isis. 
No connections to terrorism have been confirmed regarding this particular attack.
