(35 minutes later)
A number of children are being treated by paramedics after a bouncy castle came loose from its moorings, police have said. More than a dozen children have been injured after an inflatable slide came loose from its moorings and blew over at a carnival.
A police spokeswoman said: “Dorset police received reports at 1.46pm today that a bouncy castle came loose on Shore Road, Swanage. Dorset police said 13 children were treated by paramedics at the event in Swanage on Wednesday afternoon. Two were taken to hospital in Poole with neck pain, South Western ambulance service said.
“A number of children are being treated by paramedics. The air ambulance is attending.” A police spokeswoman said officers remained at the scene and would be speaking to organisers of the carnival.
More details soon “Thirteen children were treated at the scene by paramedics for minor injuries,” she said. “They have either stayed to enjoy the afternoon or have gone home. None of the injuries sustained are being described as serious.”
An air ambulance also attended the scene but was stood down.
In March, seven-year-old Summer Grant, from Norwich, died after the bouncy castle she was playing on was blown away by a gust of wind in Harlow, Essex.
