More than 50 costumes worn by influential pop group The Supremes will go on display at a London museum.

Their performance costumes will go on show at the Victoria and Albert Museum later this month, with interviews with group member Mary Wilson.

The Supremes had 12 US number one hits between 1964 and 1969 and launched the solo career of ex-member Diana Ross.

Wilson described the exhibition as her "dream". It will subsequently move to Blackpool, Birmingham and Bristol.

"I have kept these dresses in storage for over 30 years," she said.

"I am delighted that they are going on display at the V&A and on tour around the UK."

One of the first gowns purchased by the Motown group when they were still called The Primettes will be on show, along with the beaded dresses they wore when meeting the Queen Mother in 1968.
