A United Airlines plane bound for Chicago is being forced to make an emergency landing in Edinburgh shortly after taking off from London Heathrow airport. A United Airlines plane bound for Chicago has made an emergency landing in Edinburgh, shortly after taking off from London Heathrow Airport.
The Boeing 767 is currently dumping fuel as it prepares to land at Edinburgh Airport. The aircraft took off from London at 07:00 GMT and was about an hour into its flight when it was determined that it must make an emergency landing. The Boeing 767 was circling around the city in order to dump fuel, before it finally landed at Edinburgh Airport at around 08:45 GMT. 
It diverted to the Scottish capital shortly after taking off from London at 07:00 GMT and was about an hour into its flight before having to make an emergency landing.
The plane is currently on the runway having made a safe landing and is to be inspected by experts to find out what the problem was. The plane tracking website Airlive claimed a potential fuel issue caused the plane to divert to Edinburgh.
