Bloodstains could be seen outside a local police branch, where one of the women who had been stabbed was said to have dragged herself before raising the alarm. A medical kit which appeared to have been used, as well what appeared to be a police hat, lay on the ground, the area around which had been taped off.
Ben Brady, 30, who owns Jen’s Salon next door to where one of the victims was treated, said the first victim was stabbed by the pub before the attacker moved on to another area of the car park. “She had no idea what was going on,” he added.
Brady said the man was “waving a knife” and then approached women as they were getting out of their cars. “I went over to see if I could help the ladies and that’s when the police came,” he said.
Matthew Bentley, who lives around the corner from the car park, said: “I was in my house in the garden and the air ambulance came and landed and I thought it could be one of the kids in the school around the corner. One of mine goes there.
“It was all taped off, with the police and the ambulance crews. I walked into the car park as they were taping it off and I see one of the neighbours that we knew and someone that we know, their relatives or their mum, had been stabbed.”
A witness described the scene as horrific and said she had seen the victims lying on the floor bleeding. She told ITV London: “I could see bodies lying on the ground. There was an elderly lady just lying down beside the police station. I tried to help. She had the police there and paramedics.
“I could see this poor lady with blood coming out of all different parts of her body.”
She said one of the victims was her neighbour, and added: “She was stabbed three times in the chest, back and arm.”
