An overturned lorry has caused seven-mile tailbacks on a major motorway during the rush hour. A 49-year-old lorry driver has died after his vehicle overturned on the M4 near Reading on Wednesday morning.
The lorry crashed on the M4 eastbound between junction 12 and 11, near Reading. Police have closed the motorway eastbound between junction 13 and 11 and two lanes have been shut on the westbound side of the carriageway.
All three lanes of the M4 eastbound towards London were closed at about 04:50 BST on Wednesday. Two lanes westbound have also been closed. The eastbound closures have caused seven miles of tailbacks.
Police do not expect the road to reopen until 15:00 BST. The cause of the crash is being investigated. The lorry, which crashed at about 04:50 BST, appears to have hit the central reservation and overturned. An investigation has been launched.
