Seven injured in Borders accident

Seven people were injured and one woman was taken to hospital by air ambulance following a road accident in the Borders.

The woman, who had to be cut free from the wreckage, was airlifted to hospital in Edinburgh with leg injuries.

The accident happened when a car and a people carrier collided on the A68 near Earlston at about 1330 BST.

Lothian and Borders Fire and Rescue Service said two people had to be cut free with hydraulic equipment.

A Lothian and Borders Police spokeswoman said: "The woman who was cut out and airlifted has leg injuries, the others all had minor injuries."
