Version 0 of 1.

A 33-year-old teacher has been banned from the profession for life after admitting having sexual activity with a student.

A panel hearing heard Andrew Gilbert was guilty of unacceptable professional conduct in the summer of 2013 while working at Weymouth College.

He admitted having an "inappropriate relationship" with the girl.

Gilbert, from Weymouth, has been prohibited from teaching indefinitely.

The hearing, carried out by the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL), found him guilty of sexually motivated behaviour with a pupil.

The panel also found Gilbert guilty of dishonesty.

It heard that when applying for a post at Purbeck School, he failed to declare he had been dismissed from Weymouth College because of his relationship with the pupil.

The prohibition order prevents him from teaching indefinitely in any school, sixth form college, relevant youth accommodation or children's home in England.

He can not apply for the order to be lifted.
