Chris Pontius and CJ Sapong scored in the first half and the Philadelphia Union beat New York City FC 2-0 on Saturday. Emmanuel Boateng had a goal and two assists as the Los Angeles Galaxy beat Real Salt Lake 5-2 on Saturday night to snap the Utah team’s three-game winning streak.
Pontius opened the scoring in the 26th minute when he finished Tranquillo Barnetta’s short cross with a right-footed shot from the top of the 6-yard box.
