Version 0 of 1.

We enjoyed Sophie Elmhirst’s long read (What should we do about paedophiles?, 1 March). The way she presented the complex issues around people with paedophilia was commendable. We want to raise the issue of some people with learning disabilities or autism also having paedophilic tendencies and there being far fewer opportunities for them to address this. Respond has developed a range of services that are designed to prevent as well as treat people with various paraphilias who have never committed an offence but whose thoughts and fantasies cause significant levels of concern. We have adapted Circles of Support and Accountability under the umbrella of Circles UK and over the last three years have successfully supported many people with learning disabilities or autism whose harmful sexual behaviour has brought them into contact with the criminal justice system.Dr Noelle Blackman CEO, Respond Richard Curen Consultant forensic psychotherapist, Respond
