(35 minutes later)
Turkish police are besieging two female militants who fled to an apartment after launching a gun and grenade attack on Istanbul police. Turkish police have trapped two female militants in an apartment building after they reportedly launched a gun and grenade attack an Istanbul police station.
According to CNN Turk, the women attacked riot police in the Bayrampaşa district on the European side of the city on Thursday morning, though there were no casualties.
Local media reported that the assailants fled the scene leaving a car behind, and were later trapped in a building by armed officers.
Bayrampaşa was also the scene of a terror attack in December, when a pipe bomb exploded on an overpass near a Metro station injuring five people.
And Turkey as a whole has been on high alert since the devastating bomb attacks on Ankara in October, where more than 100 people died.
