The order contained the words: "Carol Barnes was born on 13 September 1944 in Norwich, one of two daughters; she left us on March 8, 2008, a celebrated journalist and TV personality, a cherished mum and sister and a friend admired and adored by many. The former newsreader was described in the order of service as "in her prime; happy, bubbly and optimistic as she always was, and for this at least we are thankful".

"I hope today we think of her in terms of love and of laughter."
