Three arrests after Ashton-under-Lyne 'hit-and-run' death

Three men have been arrested after a 11-year-old boy died following a suspected hit-and-run crash.

Police were called at about 16:45 GMT on Monday after the boy was struck by a car on Moss Street West in Ashton-under-Lyne, Greater Manchester.

He was taken to hospital where he died a short time later.

A car, thought to have been involved in the crash, was found later by police. The men have been held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

It has been reported locally that the boy was walking home from the mosque when the collision occurred.

Prayers were held for him on Monday night.
