A man has been re-arrested on suspicion of murdering a prominent member of a mosque in Rochdale.

Jalal Uddin, 64, died from a head injury on 18 February after he is believed to have been assaulted on his way home from a friend's house.

The 21-year-old and a 17-year-old were both arrested and bailed.

But police said new evidence had allowed them to re-arrest the older man. He remains in custody for questioning.

Mr Uddin was a qari (Koran reader) at the Jalalia Jaamé Mosque in the town.
