A £2.2m project to rebuild a section of the M8 near Edinburgh is to get under way on Friday evening.

Motorists are being warned traffic restrictions are likely to cause delays between Junction 2 and the Almond River Bridge over the next three weeks.

Repair work will begin on the M8 close to the merge with the M9, the busiest part of the motorway in the east.

Two lanes will stay open in each direction during the week, reducing to one lane each way at weekends.

There will be a 40mph speed limit throughout.

Drivers are being warned to leave plenty of extra time for their journeys between Edinburgh and Glasgow.
