Specialist investigation
It was one of the biggest urban rescue efforts of recent times with firefighters from all over the UK joining those from the Strathclyde brigade to free victims from the rubble.
A detailed site investigation covering the whole of the 2,000 sq m site lasted f0r eight months and was carried out by the Health and Safety Executive.
More than 5,500 tons of debris was taken from the site of the factory and sifted by hand by a specialist investigation team.
About 1,000 bags of company paperwork, each weighing one ton, were removed from the rubble and examined carefully.
Police also carried out more than 1,000 witness interviews.
A report was passed to the Crown Office, which took the decision to prosecute the factory owners over alleged health and safety breaches.
