(about 2 hours later)
A search is under way for two walkers who failed to arrive at a youth hostel while on a coastal walk between Cardigan and Newport in Pembrokeshire. Two walkers missing overnight after setting out from a youth hostel in Pembrokeshire have been found safe and well, say police.
Coastguard teams, police, a force helicopter and an RAF search and rescue helicopter are all taking part. A major search involving helicopters, mountain rescue teams and coastguards was launched for the couple from London after they failed to reach a hostel.
The missing couple, Andrew and Mary Barbour, are from Wimbledon in London. Andrew and Mary Barbour left the Poppit Sands hostel on Sunday but did not arrive at a Newport hostel as planned.
Dyfed-Powys Police said the pair left the youth hostel at Poppit Sands at 0900 GMT in Sunday and failed to arrive at the hostel in Newport as expected. Police confirmed the couple were located safe and well arounmd 1100 GMT.
The couple had pre-booked a room at the hostel. A spokesman for the Dyfed-Powys force said the walkers were foun in the Newport area after having stayed at a different location overnight.
They are described as in their late 30's. Mr Barbour was wearing a red fleece and his wife was wearing light coloured trousers The search was launched after the couple failed to arrive at the Newport youth hostel which they had booked into on Sunday night because of the bad weather conditions.
Dyfed-Powys Police are appealing to all hotels and bed and breakfasts in the area to check their guest lists in case the couple diverted from their walk and stayed with them overnight. Police thanked everyone who had taken part in the search, including the coastguard, RAF search and rescue team members and the local community in Pembrokeshire.
Officers said they were concerned for the couple's safety because of the bad weather in the area on Sunday.
Coastguard and a search and rescue helicopter from RAF Kinloss in Scotland have been involved with police in the search for the Barbours
