A 17-year-old has been detained by police in Inverness following the death of another teenager. A teenager who died after an incident in Inverness has been named by police as 17-year-old Joshua Mitchell.
Northern Constabulary said the arrest came after an incident in Carnac Crescent shortly before 1700 GMT on Saturday evening. Mr Mitchell was found seriously injured in the city's Carnac Crescent on Saturday evening. He was taken to Raigmore hospital, where he later died.
A spokesman said a seriously injured youth, also 17, was taken to Raigmore Hospital but that he later died. A 17-year-old man has been detained by police investigating the death.
The dead teenager's name has not yet been released. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal. The parents of Mr Mitchell said their son was "well loved by everyone who knew him". Floral tributes have been left at the scene by friends.
Northern Constabulary said unemployed Mr Mitchell, from Carnac Crescent, was found shortly before 1700 GMT on Saturday.
In a statement released through the force, his parents Andrew and Marilyn, said: "Joshua was a kind and gentle soul who was well loved by everyone who knew him.
"He will be deeply missed by his parents, his three brothers and everyone else who knew him.
"We are absolutely devastated. This was a senseless waste of a young life and we will miss him deeply."
