Weather keeps rollercoaster shut
http://news.bbc.co.uk/go/rss/-/1/hi/england/surrey/7309429.stm Version 0 of 1. A rollercoaster at a Surrey theme park, which broke down with passengers on board, has remained closed because it is too cold to test it. The 98ft (30m) Colossus ride at Thorpe Park was halted automatically on Friday after a fault developed, which a spokeswoman said was "very minor". The spokeswoman said the rollercoaster was not full and passengers were led to safety after 10 minutes. The fault was fixed but the ride did not reopen on Saturday. "If the temperature falls below 5C it does not give proper readings when it is tested, so it could not be opened," said the spokeswoman. She said several other rides at the park were closed on and off during the day for safety reasons because of high winds and the cold. She said customers affected were given free tickets to return to the park at a later date. |
