The official search for the fishing boat Meridian was called off after it vanished last month. Scottish Conservative fisheries spokesman Ted Brocklebank said: "While I don't think anyone would expect the search to continue in treacherous conditions, it is important the search is resumed when the bad weather subsides.
The body of Mr Gardner, from Cellardyke in Fife, was returned to Scotland for his funeral at the weekend. "Every effort must be made to find the Meridian and the three crew members still missing, both to provide some sort of closure for the families of the men, but also so that investigators can discover why the boat was lost."
