Version 0 of 1.

In recent years, there have been many stories of one of the biggest modern problems to impact cities: gentrification. From Belgrade and Bristol to Moscow and Istanbul, the process of neighbourhoods becoming increasingly wealthy has affected cities around the world.

But gentrification, of course, is not a new phenomenon. The term itself was coined in 1964. Although neighbourhoods in London such as Peckham and Stratford are currently experiencing the impact of it, Notting Hill began to gentrify in the 1970s into the wealthy area it is now. As parts of New York like Crown Heights and much of Harlem now face gentrification, places like Chelsea, or Park Slope, saw the process begin 20 or 30 years ago.

Wherever you live in the world, share your stories of watching the impacts of gentrification transform your local area over the long term. When did you first notice it happening?
