Version 0 of 1.

Attempts to extradite jailed preacher Abu Hamza al-Masri to the US on terror charges have been adjourned pending his appeal against UK convictions.

Abu Hamza was convicted of inciting murder and race-hate offences and jailed for seven years in February.

The US wants to try the Islamist cleric and then return him to the UK to serve the rest of his sentence. Any US sentence would be served afterwards.

The extradition hearing was adjourned until 6 December.

The American authorities accuse Abu Hamza of providing support to al-Qaeda and being part of a kidnapping conspiracy in Yemen.

The preacher claims his UK trial was prejudiced by a media campaign against him, and his lawyers have also argued there were issues under law.

Abu Hamza appeared via video-link from Belmarsh prison. His lawyers said he expected a judgement on his appeal by February.
