Leeds Crown Court heard Mr Waterhouse, who had a drink problem and was in bad health, had been drinking alone behind Morrisons supermarket in Keighley, when the pair launched their attack on 23 September. | |
Masters asked the girl to film it in a so-called 'happy slapping" and then repeatedly punched Mr Waterhouse in the face. | |
The court heard Thompson then pulled the victim to the ground where the pair took turns to kick him in the body. | |
The trio ran off and bragged to friends about what they had done, while Mr Waterhouse died three days later, alone in his flat, from a ruptured spleen. | |

The court heard the three defendants showed others the "horrific" footage of the fatal beating to Mr Waterhouse, sent it to friends' mobile phones and even published it on the internet. | |
One witness who viewed the film said Masters lashed out at Mr Waterhouse "like a punch bag". | |
Judge Stewart added: "You rejoiced in what you had done, describing how you degraded and battered him." | |
A statement by the victim's mother, Christine Wiseman, said: "The fact that the attack on Gavin was also videoed makes me feel sick inside. I feel they devalued Gavin's life." |
