The man who ran naked through a women's rights protest outside Nottingham's Council House has been ordered to do 80 hours of community service.

Peter Barker streaked through a "Women against Violence" demonstration during a stag night celebration on 24 October.

CCTV cameras caught the 45-year-old stripping off and then running past the protest with his arms in the air, before being chased by a policeman and arrested, the Nottingham Post reports.

He told the officer it was "only a laugh". At the time, he had drunk five or six pints, then had "four more pints with shots", Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard.

At an earlier hearing, Barker admitted to being a public nuisance by exposing his genitals.

Deputy District Judge Richard Marshall told him: "You said you were not aware of the demonstration but, given the number of people there, it is hard to accept, even in your drunken state, you were not aware of it at all."

As well as 80 hours of community work, Barker was ordered to pay a £180 criminal court charge, £85 prosecution costs and a £60 government surcharge.
