British teenager Scarlett Keeling was drugged and sexually assaulted before she died, police in Goa, India, say. A second man arrested over the death of British teenager Scarlett Keeling in Goa has appeared in court accused of involvement in her murder.
The 15-year-old girl, from Bideford, Devon, was found dead on a beach in Anjuna, Goa, last month. Placido Carvalho is being investigated over the drugging, rape and murder of the girl, but has not been charged.
Placido Carvalho was detained on Wednesday, two days after another man, Samson D'Souza, 28, was charged with raping Miss Keeling. He was remanded in custody for 14 days to give police more time to quiz him.
Mr Carvalho, who gave himself up voluntarily, will appear in court in Goa later. Police earlier said Miss Keeling, 15, from Devon, was drugged and sexually assaulted before being found dead in the Indian beach resort last month.
He was detained on suspicion of involvement in the rape and murder of Miss Keeling. Mr Carvalho was detained on Wednesday after giving himself up voluntarily. The development came two days after another man, Samson D'Souza, 28, was charged with raping Miss Keeling.
