Police in Belfast have appealed for help in catching the killers of two men, on the first anniversary of their murders.

The body of Edward Burns, 36, who was shot in the head, was found near the Falls Road and the beaten body of Joe Jones, 38, was discovered in Ardoyne.

At the time of their deaths, police said the killings took place amid tension among dissident republicans.

A 22-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday but was later released.

The detective leading the murder inquiry said they were focusing their attention on door-to-door inquiries around Elmfield Street, where the body of Mr Jones was found.

DCI David Cunningham said: "While the investigation into Joseph and Edward's murders is very much live and ongoing, my team believes that there is someone out there who can tell us who is responsible."
