Slash wounds
A Crown Office spokeswoman said Back was found guilty of killing James McArthur on 31 May, 2000 or 1 June, 2000.
Mr McArthur was struck on the head and body and suffered slash wounds to the face and throat caused by a knife or similar implement.
The incident happened outside 5 Church Court in Kirkcaldy.
